Chrisette Michele was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night and she performed the title track from her new album, “Epiphany” (read my review) along with The Roots, Adam Blackstone, and her backup singers.
Chrisette’s voice was as sultry and smokey as ever. The Roots nailed the beat, even putting a light go-go twist on the second verse. Adam Blackstone, long-time Roots affiliate and current musical director for Kanye West’s band, was playing synthesizer.
This was the first non hip-hop artist The Roots have backed on Fallon.
For past Roots performances on Fallon, make sure to check out All The Way Live.
