Mark my words. This song will be huge and Wale will be a household name by year’s end.
But who is Wale, you ask?
“Chillin” is the first single from Wale’s debut album, Attention: Deficit, due in the Summer. And this song will surely be a smash.
The song samples “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye,” and features Lady Gaga sounding a lot like M.I.A. and Santigold with a typical hip-hip club synth beat.
But this isn’t typical Wale. The 24-year-old Washington, D.C. native made notable noise beyond the mainstream radar for go-go influence in his music, his Seinfeld-themed Mixtape About Nothing, and his guest appearance on The Roots’ “Rising Up.”
Attention: Deficit is rumored to feature production work from Mark Ronson, Kanye West, Just Blaze, 9th Wonder, Justice, Sean C. & LV, and Travis Barker.
Wale will be performing live Thursday, March 26 at The Florida Room in the Delano hotel in Miami Beach. Event details can be found here.
Hey, your sister steered me towards your blog. 100 Miles and Runnin was ridiculous…I heard a rumor he might be signed now. Just hope he doesn’t water it down for a major label release
oh, whoops, I didn’t read the entry. So he is signed. yeah hope he “keeps it 100” lol
I’m a bit worried that he’s changing his style though. One of the biggest draws for me was the go-go influence, which this song lacks completely.
