Jimmy Buffett + The Roots

Who knew The Roots were parrotheads? In one of the more unlikely pairings on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (not that Al Simon and Paul Jones were “likely”), The Roots backed the king of cruise ship music, Jimmy Buffett, for “Margaritaville.”

The Roots played the part all episode long, wearing Hawaiian shirts and leis that would make fans stuck on the band’s ”neo soul” image cringe. In reality, the performance further proves and solidifies The Roots’ talent and ability to play anything.

In fact, Jimmy Buffett even let The Roots get funky with a sousaphone solo courtesy of Tuba Gooding Jr.
